Good standard of rooms and staff were helpful and really friendly - especially on reception
Breakfast could do with a re-think. The only bread available was sliced bread but would be good to have a selection and some thought put into offering more choice in the other breakfast items. Packets of cereal were there but muesli and fresh fruit would be good rather than just opening a few tins of fruit. Good that tea and coffee were available rather than having to ask for them
In need of a good make-over
Great staff very large room fitted 5 of us in, safe parking loved old world slightly worn frayed round the edges but well maintained building, even though there was a mistake with booking and for some reason our extra bed was not in the room, staff still allowed all of us to stay. And my 2 year old when he woke was convinced he had slept in a castle
Room could of been cleaner , cheap base board beds where stained , bit noisy outside at night due to central location, and the breakfast should of been served with covers to keep it fresher,
We were meeting relatives for a meal and the Hotel was just 5 minutes walk from the restaurant
We booked for bed and breakfast and when we arrived were told it was Continental only. My husband and I don't like salami etc. There was ham but it looked as though it had been in and out of the refrigerator for a week.I am diabetic so I should eat at regular times. I was offered my money back for breakfast (£5.50) so we ended up paying £20.00 plus for breakfast at a Little Chef. The room was clean although there was wallpaper hanging off the wall. The sister hotel just down the road was being refurbished so I imagine the Royal would be next
Staying with three children is always a chore but the family room was spacious and had good natural light in it. Everybody slept really well and was also able to read and do other stuff after a day out.
Lack of hook to put shower into, and the low water pressure made showering fairly difficult.
Nice room, bathroom new and fresh
Couldn't open window. Music/noise coming from bar downstairs. Had to wear earplugs
The hotel is situated in a very good location in town centre.Excellent and friendly service. All the staff tried really hard to make sure that i had the best possible stay
The staff were too busy moaning to help me. They nevert gave me more towels. The decor was rough and worn. The double bed was split down the middle, it was a disgrace
Availability of carpark to leave car at hotel during stay and in centre of Kettering so didn't need to drive while there. Spacious room
Breakfast was dire and I only really wanted a decent cup of coffee No bar so couldn't even buy a soft drink
The location is very central to Kettering town, you can nip out for a Subway next door or a pizza/kebab from a great place the other side. The rooms at the back are very quiet, the price was very reasonable for a double room we paid just £50 room only. Tv was a good size 28" lcd.
Rooms could do with a much needed refurb, decor was dated, flaking wallpaper, you can hear every noise from the bathroom next door as the sound travels through an air vent on the wall, be mindful of this unless you dont mind your neighbours hearing your conversation or other noises. Saying this we could hear quite an amusing converwsation coming from next door which we found funny and gave us a giggle.
The historic building is gorgeous. The staff is very nice and helpful. The room was spacious, beautiful, clean. The tv was enormous. Shower was nice and very well decorated. The room smelled very gently like sandalwood, which was a very nice, thoughtful touch. Value for money was unbelievable. We paid about half of what we would have paid at the chain hotel at Rockingham.
The wifi was a little difficult to connect to.
The location was ideal as I was out meeting friends in the centre of town so didn't have far to travel. The bathroom was large as was the TV. The staff that I met were friendly without being intrusive
The overall decor in the hotel is a little tired and needs updating. The room was a little rough around the edges with the window sills needing a good clean, as well as finding pieces of biscuit in the bedroom. These things shouldn't be overlooked really. Also the hotel has a nightclub underneath it, which didn't bother me as I was out til late, but may bother those expecting a quiet, peaceful night
The location was good and despite the first room being cold and the tv not working the man on reception soon moved us to another room
We paid for breakfast and all we got was a bowl of cereal and some toast that we had to put into the toaster ourselves!!!
It was very clean and the reception staff on arrival very helpful. It was also a good location for our purpose
Very loud music played until about 1am. I am talking very loud and we were in a room directly above. We were warned on arrival that there would be music until midnight but it went on well past that and I have been to dances where the music was not as loud as the the sound in our room.
The bed was comfy and the reception man was very friendly and efficient The location is fabulous as it is right in the middle of town
It is very dated and dindgy. Broken equipment and fixings in the room. I know not pricey but still not worth the £45 charge
